Ideas For Your Gatlinburg Honeymoon

One of the lesser known but still popular honeymoon destinations is Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This is especially true for those from the Southern United States who want a fun-filled honeymoon that is not too far from home. A Gatlinburg honeymoon can be anything you want it to be. There are so many different sights, experiences and activities to enjoy. And, there is no shortage of romantic accommodations. Some luxury hotels have suites for newlyweds with amenities like complementary champagne and heart shaped tubs.

One thing you cannot miss while on your honeymoon is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is one of the most famous parks in the country and is a World Heritage Site. Here you'll discover miles of hiking trails, amazing scenery and a wide variety of flora and fauna. There are thousands of flower species that grow here. And, there is no shortage of wildlife in the area. You might spot a black bear, red-cheeked salamander or some of the hundreds of bird species. The park also has guided tours and plenty of local history information.

Downtown there are plenty of places to shop, from large shopping malls to quaint boutiques. There are also no shortage of dining establishments. You can find your favorite food here, whether it is local Southern food, international cuisine, seafood or even fast food. The downtown Gatlinburg area also has lots of fun museums like Ripley's and even the massive Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. There is also golf, miniature golf, zipline rides, ghost tours, amusement parks and so much more. There is no way you can possibly get bored in Gatlinburg, and if you do Pigeon Forge is nearby with its own attractions. Dollywood, a theme park by country superstar Dolly Parton, is located here.

During your Gatlinburg honeymoon you may want to experience both the untamed wilderness and the city. This is entirely possible, especially if you plan an itinerary. You can visit all the city attractions and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, horseback riding, camping and more. In the winter there is skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing and ice skating at the Ober Ski Resort and Amusement Park. The great thing about spending your honeymoon here is that no matter what season it is, you can find all kinds of fun and romantic things to do.
